3.3b Bias Free Reporting

1) State the pros and the cons of the topic that you are presenting.
2) You should not sound to excited about your topic.
3)Do your homework so your facts are stated clearly.
4) Do not try to convince in your story, it will seem that you are biased.
5) Do not give any links or phone numbers.
6) Do not write the Gender-Specific pronouns.
7) Assume the best about people.
8) Ask Questions.
9) Make the facts clear so that there is no room for judgement.
10) Quote accurately.

3.3a Consider the ethics of news reporting

Censorship- is the suppression of speech or other communication. Individual privacy- to keep information to yourself, its your privacy. Libel- is the communication of a statement. Obscenity-is an expression. Pressure groups- a group that trys to influence public policy. Profanity- the language that you use. Promotion-the publicising of a product or organization. Unpopular viewpoints- a point of view that nobody is interested in. Sensationalism- this term is used to describe mass media. Controversial topics- a story that cant be biased or made up facts.

1.3 Global Culture and Sterotypes

A little while ago KFC came out with a new commercial which alot of people took it as being racist. People think that this commercial is being racist because one white guy is sitting in a crowd of black Austrailian people and he says "if your ever in a ocward situation" then he lifts up a bucket of chicken and all the people grab some and they be quiet. I dont think this commercial is racist because they are just trying to sell their product. People think that its racist because all black people like chicken. This is not true. 1.1 Profile of a Media Customer

1)I tend to spend most of my free time on the computer or on the Internet. Specifically on facebook. Facebook is used by millions of people. I find facebook a good tool to interact with friends and communicate with others. i also listen to lots of music. Music is a big part of my life.
2) My favorite medium is the internet and facebook. Facebook is a good tool to interact with others and i use the internet for school work.
3) The medium that i use for information is mostly the internet. When i want entertainment i usually watch movies or go on facebook.
